This week's video focuses on one of the two most specific forms of therapy performed for trichotillomania and other Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, or BRFBs, something called Acceptance And Commitment Therapy, or ACT.
Acceptance And Commitment Therapy absolutely has its virtues.
This is why one of the core elements of ACT is in fact a major part of the work we do here at the Trichotillomania Relief Specialists.
That said, in our opinion, ACT as it is commonly practiced in the conventional mental health community is limited in significant ways.
We'll discuss these limitations in this week's video.
It's also why we've taken what we believe are the beneficial elements of ACT, put our own stamp on them, and made the appropriate adjustments such that those limitations are now no longer an issue.
Curious about ACT as a possible avenue of treatment for yourself or a loved one?
Then be sure to check out this week's video before making any firm decisions.

As always, do feel free to leave your comments, questions and suggestions below!
• “Energy flows where your attention goes.”
• “We become what we think about.”
Maybe you’ve heard sayings like these before.
If so, consider them a crucial reminder of just how important it is to remain mindful of the places you allow your mind to wander.
For example, if you or a loved one are a trichotillomania sufferer, it’s a fair bet to assume you spend a lot of your time thinking about what it’s like to have trichotillomania.
… And not just “having trichotillomania”, but the pain you are so often forced to endure as a result.
While this is 100% understandable, if the above quotes are accurate, you may for the first time begin to realize the cost of allowing yourself to continue to wallow in such thoughts.
Yup… you’re likely to continue getting more of what you’ve always gotten.
So how can you turn this around - including your very challenges with trichotillomania itself - using the very same power of thought?
Simple. Do the same thing you’ve BEEN doing - but in the...
Many of the people we speak with here at the Trichotillomania Relief Specialists™ are under the assumption that, like so many chronic anxiety-related challenges, trichotillomania is caused by some form of psychological trauma.
But is this really the case?
What do you think?
15+ years and hundreds of clients later, I’ll tell you what the numbers reveal in this week’s video.

Most of us watched the video of Will Smith attacking Chris Rock last weekend for his perceived slight of Smith's wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
As far as I could tell, the rest of the Oscars - not to mention the rest of this past week - was all about Will Smith and Chris Rock... How did they feel about what happened?
How did everyone around them feel?
... It was NOT about the Oscar winners, whose perhaps once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shine last week were completely overshadowed by a totally unforeseen controversy.
And it was certainly not about Jada.
A bit of background - you may or may not know that Jada has been very public about her struggle with a condition known as alopecia.
While the cause(s) of alopecia are not well understood, it is generally considered to be a natural form of pattern hair loss.
It occurs in about 50% of men and about 25% of women, and of course, it becomes more common with age.
While there were certainly those who came to her defense, the ...
Have you or a loved one been suffering with trichotillomania (compulsive hair-pulling)?
If so - and especially if you’ve been challenged with trichotillomania for any significant length of time - you may have found yourself feeling incredibly frustrated with the situation.
And if you’re like most of those who call us for help, the longer it’s gone on, you may have turned some of that frustration inwards, directing your anger at yourself for your own perceived weakness.
In this week’s video, Trichotillomania Relief Specialists™ co-Founder and Executive Director Robert Mantell exposes the danger in blaming oneself for their continuing challenges with hair-pulling.
Most importantly, you’ll learn what you can to do to turn this kind of thinking around for yourself. In doing so, you’re likely to feel better - and as a result, you may even find yourself pulling less than you used to.

After having worked with literally hundreds of trichotillomania sufferers from around the world for over 15 years, we know there are a great many who have felt so beaten down by their condition, so out of options, they’ve found themselves literally praying to God for salvation.
While we can certainly understand that kind of desperation, we still have to ask the question:
In this week’s video, Trichotillomania Relief Specialists™ co-Founder and Executive Director Robert Mantell addresses this question from the relatively unique perspective of one who is both a believer AND a specialist in area of trichotillomania relief.

Have you made numerous attempts to stop pulling your hair?
And after all these attempts, have you ever wondered whether you actually have what it takes to free yourself from trichotillomania after all?
Have you found yourself laying awake at night wondering if you’ll ever change?
Before meeting us, most of the clients we go to work with had been struggling with chronic hair-pulling for years.
Most of them had tried everything else under the sun to free themselves from this terribly self-effacing hair-pulling habit, only to experience disappointment and failure at every turn.
Thus the inevitable conclusions,
That’s an incredibly painful place to find yourself.
But we have good news for you.
Not only CAN you change, the shocking truth is - You can’t NOT change.
Try that one on for size. :-)
That’s right… Even if you ...
If you or a loved one have been struggling with trichotillomania for any length of time, you may well be under the impression that it has to take a lot of “work”, and inhuman levels of restraint to hold yourself back from hair-pulling - especially during those times when your urges are at their strongest.
Yet is this really the truth? Does it really require super-human strength and resolve to hold yourself back from pulling your hair?
Must it always feel like an uphill battle?
As behavioral change specialists who’ve been in the trenches with trichotillomania sufferers from around the world for more than 15 years now, we think not.
In fact, hundreds of clients later, we’ve discovered the counterintuitive truth - and that is, ironically, the more you LET GO of the struggle, the easier you’ll find it to dispense with hair-pulling.
Not so sure about this? Can’t understand how this could be?
In this week’s video, Trichotillomania Relief Specialists™ co-Founder and Executive Direct...
As we approach the end of yet another challenging year, Glei and I want you to know that you and your family's well-being are ever on our mind.
This is the time of year when we offer you our annual reminder to prioritize REST, REJUVENATION and most importantly, LIFESTYLE BALANCE.
You may be aware that Glei and I have been seeing clients from around the world for the past 20+ years - and not just for trichotillomania.
In fact, we spent years working with a much wider variety of anxiety and related behavioral challenges before ever saw our first trichotillomania client back in 2006.
These included fears, phobias, post-traumatic stress (PTSD), OCD, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxieties, generalized anxieties, you name it - and a few conditions you've probably never heard of before.
And if there has been any one single overarching observation that has emerged from having worked with nearly 1000 clients from all over the world – all with an incredible variety of symptoms - it is this: ...
