Our children are famous for giving us a hard time anytime we try to talk them about their problems.
Have you also found this to be the case?
Nowhere is this more true than with a child who has been suffering with hair-pulling and trichotillomania, and simply refuses to have a discussion about it. And if you attempt to push it, your child blows up and finds any way possible to avoid the topic.
On the one hand, you’d think a child who’s genuinely suffering with trichotillomania would be all too willing to discuss ways they can possibly end this challenge.
But on the other hand, that’s not what you see… Instead, your child who’s been pulling her hair simply will not engage. They seem to give you a hard time any time you bring it up.
What’s going on with this? What’s the underlying psychology here?
And as the caring, loving parent, what can you do to help encourage a change?
